Madrid is shrouded in terror: irresistible plans to enjoy Halloween
The most mysterious and terrifying time of year will arrive very soon, when strange creatures will crawl through the streets and all the buildings will be decorated with cobwebs and horror-film ornaments. The history of this festivity dates back to ancient Celtic traditions and the festival of Samhain, which meant the end of the harvest and the beginning of winter. The Celts believed that on that night the doors between the world of the living and the dead opened, so spirits came out into the streets. This gave rise to the tradition of lighting bonfires and wearing costumes to ward off evil spirits. When Christianity arrived, the celebration became the Víspera de Todos los Santos.
