Palau Martorell
Also known as Antigua Sociedad del Crédito Mercantil
Palau Martorell is one of the great examples of late-19th-century Barcelona Neoclassical architecture. Designed by Joan Martorell i Montells between 1886 and 1900, the building stands out for a serene elegance that contrasts with the rise of Modernisme that was beginning to transform the city. Its balanced façade and sober lines reflect an architectural vision based on harmony, proportion and functionality.
