«More Gaudí at MNAC: Reflections and analogies» presentation
Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC) adds a set of previously unseen works by Antoni Gaudí from Barcelona City Council's stores to its Modern Art collection. The presentation, entitled «More Gaudí at MNAC: Reflections and analogies», provides an opportunity to approach little-known materials by the architect, which have been the subject of prior research and a careful conservation process.
About this event
These pieces expand Gaudí's presence in the museum's itinerary and place his work in the cultural context of turn-of-the-century Barcelona, when Modernisme transformed the relationship between art, architecture and the city. The new space proposes looking at his work from a broader perspective, beyond his best-known buildings.
The proposal is completed by works recently added to the museum, belonging to different creative fields, which enter into dialogue with the Gaudí universe through formal resonances, shared ideas and aesthetic affinities. This play of correspondences allows unexpected connections to be discovered and Gaudí's figure to be reconsidered within a broader artistic landscape.
The project has been curated by Mariàngels Fondevila, curator of Modern Art at MNAC.
