Visit «La Pedrera & Sant Pau Modernist Site»
La Pedrera & Sant Pau Modernist Site brings together in one experience two of the most extraordinary works of Catalan Modernism. On the one hand, the sculptural power of La Pedrera, where Antoni Gaudí transformed stone, iron and light into almost impossible architecture. On the other, the monumental delicacy of the Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau, Lluís Domènech i Montaner’s great hospital project conceived as a garden city devoted to wellbeing and beauty.
About this event
The visit allows you to explore both spaces freely and discover two different ways of understanding Modernism. At La Pedrera, the undulating forms, colour-filled courtyards and famous rooftop reveal a living architecture designed to surprise at every turn. Sant Pau, by contrast, unfolds pavilions connected by underground tunnels, symbolic mosaics and gardens that transform its former hospital function into an almost contemplative experience.
Beyond their architectural value, the tour shows how these buildings changed the way the city and everyday spaces were imagined. Two works declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites that still convey today the artistic and cultural ambition of a Barcelona that dreamed big.
