Performance «La gramática»
In the ingenious play «La gramática», theatre becomes a setting for exploration and satire about the transformative, and sometimes disturbing, power of language. Written and directed by Ernesto Caballero, the theatrical piece enters the life of a woman whose existence is turned upside down after she accidentally becomes a scholar of language and grammar.

The protagonist, masterfully played by María Adánez, discovers one day that her command of language has changed drastically, unexpectedly broadening her horizons. However, what at first appears to be personal enrichment becomes an existential dilemma. The play asks whether this new knowledge is really a blessing or becomes a source of alienation and social conflict.
José Troncoso plays a neuroscientist who sees the woman’s case as a unique opportunity to experiment with linguistic deprogramming. In an inversion of Pygmalion, where a flower girl is refined, here the scientist tries to reverse the process to return the woman to her original state, believing that he will thereby save her social life.
«La gramática» is a play that not only entertains but also invites reflection on our relationship with language, considered by Lázaro Carreter to be our firmest heritage.
