The Ballet de Kiev returns to the stage with a renewed version of The Nutcracker, a classic which, despite the passage of time, continues to inspire the same amazement as when it premiered. Its magic arises from the meeting of Tchaikovsky’s unforgettable score and the delicate choreographic architecture of Petipa and Ivanov, on which the Ukrainian company builds a contemporary, luminous and deeply moving interpretation.

The story, known to generations, unfolds once again through the eyes of Clara, a girl who receives a soldier-shaped nutcracker on Christmas Eve. In the stillness of the early hours, that gift becomes the gateway to an extraordinary universe: toys that awaken, battles fought beneath a gigantic tree, kingdoms made of sugar and gardens that seem to arise from a dream.
In this new staging, the journey of Clara and the prince —freed from his spell after defeating the feared Mouse King— unfolds with carefully crafted aesthetics, poetic use of light and a cast that combines technical precision with a sensitivity that advances the narrative without artifice.
The result is a dance show that respects the essence of the original but brings it closer to a contemporary audience, inviting them to rediscover a tale that remains synonymous with Christmas, fantasy and celebration.
