Musical programme «Clàssica a la platja»

Clàssica a la Platja once again shows that symphonic music can also be heard with your feet in the sand and the Mediterranean as a backdrop. Once more, Barcelona’s leading musical institutions leave their auditoriums to meet the public on Sant Sebastià beach, at one of the summer’s most well-attended and accessible cultural events.

The 2026 programme offers a journey through some of Europe’s great musical traditions, with excursions into Latin American folklore. Composers such as Brahms, Chaikovski, Dvořák, Ravel and Ginastera feature in two free concerts that bring the classical repertoire to thousands of people in an unusual setting for symphonic music.

The first concert will feature the Orquesta del Gran Teatre del Liceu conducted by Josep Pons, in an evening designed for all audiences that will include such recognisable works as El Cascanueces, El amor brujo and the celebrated Bolero. The following day, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Barcelona y Nacional de Cataluña will present Una sinfonía imaginaria, a proposal built from fragments by great composers to create a musical journey full of contrasts and emotions.

With a live broadcast, accessibility measures and capacity for thousands of attendees, Clàssica a la Platja turns classical music into an open, inclusive and shared experience. An invitation to discover that great works can also sound by the sea.
