Madrid has a warm attitude towards LGTBIQA+ people. Thanks to the active struggle of activists, same-sex relationships have been legal since 1979. Since then, many buildings of historical value to the community have been preserved and many new establishments have opened in the capital. There are special places such as the Chueca district, where almost every establishment is dedicated to the community.
