The Aperitif Train
In the morning, a retro train from the 1980s leaves Madrid-Chamartín and, in a couple of hours, travels the route via El Pardo to the mountain station of Santa María de la Alameda, in the Sierra de Guadarrama.
About this event
The retro train from the 1980s departs from Madrid again: a short weekend journey in which the city gradually gives way to the mountainous landscape of the Sierra de Guadarrama, and the journey itself becomes part of the rest.
Departure from Madrid-Chamartín station. The train follows the historic Madrid-Irún line, passing through the oak woods of El Pardo and Parque Natural de la Cuenca Alta del Manzanares. As it goes on, the landscape opens up, and the outline of the monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial soon appears on the horizon.
The final stop is Santa María de la Alameda, a small mountain village with railway history. Here passengers take a break and enter the Bellver El Origen restaurant, where the ticket includes a drink and you can spend some time in a peaceful setting surrounded by nature.
After the stop, the train returns to Madrid, concluding the journey in mid-morning. The trip lasts only a few hours, but there is time to pass through different landscapes, from the urban line to the mountain relief.
