Exhibition ‘Pelota vasca en Beti Jai’

On 3 and 4 October, the sound of pelota will once again echo in the historic frontón Beti Jai de Chamberí. Eight Basque pelota exhibition matches will be held there, which can be attended for free with prior reservation. The matches are organised by the Ayuntamiento de Madrid in collaboration with the Federación Madrileña de Pelota.

Most of the players taking part are from the Comunidad de Madrid, and they will showcase two forms of the sport: hand-pelota and frontenis, which is played with rackets. The matches will allow spectators to compare both styles of play and see Beti Jai in action, beyond its architectural interest.

The venue has over a hundred years of history. After a long restoration, it reopened to the public, and these matches restore its original purpose. This time, the architectural details will share visitors’ attention with the movement of the pelota.
