13th Run and Walk Against Cancer
Madrid will host the 13th AECC charity race, in which participants will run or complete the routes in support of cancer research.
About this event
On 19 April, Madrid will host the charity race organised by the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC). The route will link the Paseo de la Castellana with the finish line on the Paseo de Recoletos. All funds raised will go to research and support programmes in the field of oncology.
Participants can choose between two distances: 10 kilometres and 4.5 kilometres, with separate starts. The format is open and includes running and walking sections, especially in the shorter distance, where there are no age restrictions.
People over the age of 14 may take part in the 10-kilometre race. The 4.5-kilometre route is open to everyone, and families often attend, choosing a relaxed pace rather than sporting competition.
There is a specific programme for children. The non-competitive races will begin at 12:00 in Plaza del Descubrimiento and are intended for children aged between 4 and 12. In addition, Plaza Colón will have a family activities area where people can spend time before and after the start.
