Workshop «Al pan, pan»
Plaza Mayor will become a bakery for a day: a free workshop on how to make bread will be held in Madrid.

On 19 September, the workshop «Al pan, pan» will be held at Casa de la Panadería, in Plaza Mayor. Under the guidance of professional bakers, participants will learn the traditional kneading technique. The event is organised with the support of ASEMAC, Asociación Española de la Industria de Panadería, Bollería y Pastelería, and admission is free.
The venue was not chosen at random. Several centuries ago, a historic bakery stood here that supplied bread to the whole city, and the wheat came from fields located in what is now the Villa de Vallecas neighbourhood.
During the activity, participants will learn about the history of breadmaking and will then prepare and knead their own dough to take home and bake the bread following the instructions of the master bakers. At the end of the workshop, each participant will also receive a freshly baked loaf as a gift.
