Reading party «Meet & Read»

On 23 April, Meet & Read, a project by Matadero Madrid and Casa del Lector for World Book Day, will take place in this space. From 19:00 to 22:00, participants will gather with their books to read, listen to music and, if they wish, discuss what they have read there and then.

The format is very simple. Everyone brings a book and takes any spot in the square, where reading becomes a shared practice and conversations arise naturally, without a pre-established script. The idea is to put your phone aside that evening so as not to distract attention.

The Matadero space will be arranged as a quiet reading area with places to rest and sit informally. The square temporarily changes its usual rhythm and becomes a unique space for text and communication.

The musical accompaniment will be provided by composer and DJ Luis Miguel Cobo, winner of the MAX awards, who has prepared a music selection specifically for the event. The moderator will be cultural expert Fernando Bonete, who will gently guide conversations around books and authors.
