Heritage Nights in Alcalá de Henares

In September, Alcalá de Henares’s historic centre will host sunset walks, concerts, shows and guided night visits. As part of “Heritage Nights”, held every year, the city’s museums, monuments and archaeological sites will open free of charge at special times, while squares and historic buildings will host a variety of cultural activities.

The event is held simultaneously in 15 Spanish cities on the UNESCO World Heritage List. In Alcalá de Henares, the programme will combine the city’s historic heritage with music, theatre, dance, crafts and contemporary art. Most events are free, although some require advance registration or an invitation.

One of the main attractions will be the night visits. On 12 September, until midnight, visitors will be able to visit the Cervantes Birthplace Museum, the Archaeological and Palaeontological Museum of the Community of Madrid, the Chapel of the Oidor, the Tower of Santa María and the Roman sites of Complutum, including the House of Hippolytus and the Antiquarium.
