100 years of the Cuesta de Moyano Book Fair

On 11 May, the legendary Cuesta de Moyano book fair will celebrate its centenary.

The anniversary programme includes literary walks, concerts, exhibitions, performances and even discussion groups on literary trends, all awaiting guests.

In March, poetry walks, concerts for International Women’s Day and a children’s literature festival with a costume contest will begin. Highlights include the Generación Moyano series, with debates on the art of words: from the avant-gardes of the 1920s to the influence of algorithms. Rosa Montero, Andrés Trapiello and other stars of the pen will take part.

On 23 April, Book Day, the fair will give away tickets to the Royal Botanic Garden with every purchase, and La Noche de los Libros will organise a Book Hunt.

There will also be international fellowship: on 8 May, the booksellers of Cuesta will join forces with Parisian booksellers. In summer, visitors will enjoy Bloomsday and an open-air flamenco poetry concert.
