This exhibition invites us to examine photographs of the underworld and the margins of New York nightlife in the 1930s and 1940s. But it was his 1948 Hollywood photographs that made him more popular. In them, he captures moments in Californian high society satirically. At this stage, the photographer expressed his vision of society and culture. Critics have highlighted the contrast between the two periods.
The exhibition aims to show the deep relationship between the two periods, while also emphasising the relevance of the critical gaze.
