La Casa Encendida has opened an exhibition that shows the mechanisms of collaboration created by women artists. The exhibition is dedicated to the issues facing communities of African descent.
The exhibition is like a container for a polyphony of experiences and gestures. An exploratory dialogue among the practitioners permeates La Casa Encendida and engages them.
The artists interweave the architectural and artistic works of Binta Diaw, Ana Pi, Taco Taal and Frida Robles Pons. In this way, they reflect their personal stories and ideas. Everything is devoted to the heritage of the African and mixed-race diaspora, in order to bring it to the surface. The exhibition raises questions of belonging and the notion of return as dreams of home.
This exhibition is a metaphorical journey across seas, continents and the globe. It refers to the multiple forms — emotional, material, spatial — that we contain and carry when we travel, sometimes with the intention of transforming.
