«Three formal experiences» exhibition
The exhibition brings together works by Núria Fuster, Clara Montoya and Sandra Val, three artists who explore the limits of contemporary sculpture through radically different languages, connected by the same question: how can we think through form?
About this event
The conceptual starting point of this exhibition is the book «Naturaleza, Historia, Dios», written by philosopher Xavier Zubiri in 1944. But the exhibition does not aim to illustrate its content. Rather, the works offer a free and poetic reading of these three central notions of Western metaphysics. Each artist activates a formal experience that subtly refers to a dimension of philosophical thought.
Sandra Val opens the exhibition with an installation that evokes the garden as the symbolic origin of nature, using materials that move between the fragile and the ritual. Clara Montoya proposes an immersive sculpture that directly challenges our historical and ecological responsibility, bringing memory and the present together. Finally, Núria Fuster closes the cycle with a piece that gives voice to inert matter, questioning the relationship between form, emptiness and consciousness. Her work echoes Barbara Hepworth, an artist she explicitly claims as a reference for rethinking space and emptiness as active elements in sculpture.
Curated by Miguel Cereceda, the exhibition offers visitors an experience of visual reading that demands attention and openness. Here, viewers do not receive definitive answers, but formal provocations that call for interpretation. There is no single discourse, but multiple lines of meaning opening up from the sensory.
The careers of the three artists reinforce the strength of the proposal. Fuster has been recognised for her work with recycled materials and open sculptural processes. Montoya has exhibited at international institutions, and her work is held in collections such as the Museo Reina Sofía and the European Parliament. Val, for her part, has developed an interdisciplinary practice that brings the symbolic together with the material, with a presence at ceramics biennials, public projects and international exhibitions.
