«Weaving Courtly Life. Fabrics and Embroideries of the Royal Collections» Exhibition
An exhibition opens in Madrid that brings to light, for the first time, unusual textile pieces from the holdings of the Royal Collections of Spain.

From 11 June to 12 October, the Galería de las Colecciones Reales de Madrid hosts an exhibition dedicated to textiles from the Royal Collections. The exhibition will be located in the temporary exhibition room, on level −3, and will bring together unique pieces, many of which have not previously been shown to the public.
Ancient fabrics and decorative objects related to the Spanish court take centre stage. These works not only show the mastery of craftspeople from past centuries, but also make it possible to appreciate what the material surroundings of the royal residences were like.
The collection of Patrimonio Nacional is considered one of the most important textile collections in the world. Most of the objects were created at the monarchs’ request or belonged to the royal family and were used to decorate the palaces.
The exhibition shows not only the works themselves, but also the process of their creation: the work of the palace workshops, where fabrics intended for royal interiors were made, decorated and preserved.
