Exhibition ‘Súper Zines 2026’

From 16 April to 31 May, Espina, the Casa del Lector space at Matadero Madrid, is hosting an exhibition on fanzines as a form of independent publishing and graphic experimentation. At the heart of the show is a selection of limited-edition publications demonstrating how varied self-publishing can be in form, material and mode of expression.

Here, fanzines are seen as a format operating outside conventional publishing channels. They are easy to produce, can freely change their structure and are distributed with the same freedom, making them an accessible means of expression for the widest range of authors.

Historically, this format has brought professionals and amateurs together, creating a space in which the very act of publishing matters more than its institutional framework.

A specific part of the exhibition is devoted to the publications themselves as objects. It focuses on their materiality, on ways of printing and reading, and on how form influences the perception of content.
