The Museo Arqueológico Nacional exhibition ‘Rostros del Turuñuelo’, open until 2 February, takes visitors back five thousand years, presenting unique sculptures found in Badajoz in 2023. These faces, as if emerging from the myths of the Tartessian civilisation, appear in a new reconstruction, preserving the spirit of antiquity and offering a modern perspective on history.
Archaeologists have discovered a unique complex with two storeys connected by a monumental staircase. In the inner courtyard, where animal sacrifices were carried out, they found fragments of carved stone, including images of women’s faces. These elements, presumably deliberately destroyed, may have formed part of a mythological relief.
