«Resistance in memory: Visions of Sudan» exhibition

Open until 19 July at Galería Sura, this is a powerful and moving exhibition that seems like a visual testament to the times we live in. Nine Sudanese photographers, four of whom are still working inside the country, have collected stories of pain, hope and resistance.

Against the backdrop of an ongoing conflict and a series of coups d'état, Sudan lives in a state that is neither war nor peace, in the space between a past that seemed hopeful and a present full of anxiety. It is this space of memory that has become the protagonist of the exhibition.

The images take us back to 2019, a time when thousands of men and, above all, women took to the streets hoping to change their country's destiny. Today, their images are not merely a chronicle, but an act of resistance, a visual reminder of a future that is still waiting to become reality.
