Exhibition “Barbara Brändli. Poetics of Gesture, Politics of the Document”

Barbara Brändli became a very popular photographer in Venezuela, where she lived and worked. Over the last fifty years, famous artists, musicians, actors, dancers, politicians and businessmen have posed for her. In general, all high society was her model. Before becoming a photographer, she was an amateur dancer and magazine model, which enabled her to understand the importance of gestures and poses. She had a clear idea of how a model felt and helped represent it. In addition, her experiences helped her redefine documentary photography. This legacy is of incalculable value to the historical memory of Latin America.

The exhibition will show for the first time a selection of photographs and documents that reveal her intimate commitment to photography as a tool for creating human connections.
