From 12 February to 7 March, the Exhibition Hall of the Real Sociedad Fotográfica de Madrid hosts Giana De Dier’s solo exhibition, which explores Panama’s Afro-Caribbean heritage through historical photographs and collages.
The exhibition brings together three series: memories of Terraplén from the 1980s and 1990s, imagined encounters of Afro-Caribbean migrants, and revived streets, quays and markets that remain in the memory. The artist creates fragments of everyday life in which people, places and time become an artistic narrative.
Special attention is given to the experience of Afro-Caribbean women: their displacement, the formation of communities and their emotional connection with space. The exhibition combines history and imagination, turning the memory of Terraplén into a visual and emotional journey.
