Notre-Dame de Paris. The augmented exhibition

CentroCentro has opened a unique exhibition that offers an augmented-reality journey through the centuries of the cathedral’s history. Its walls witnessed Napoleon’s coronation, the wedding of King Henry IV and many other events before a fire destroyed 850 years of history in 2019. On 15 April 2019, a fire brought down the cathedral’s spire and roof, and lead prevented visits to the building.

Very soon, Notre Dame will rise from its ashes and, renewed, open its doors to the public. To pay tribute to the greatest cathedral, the exhibition has gathered the history of eight centuries and now tells it to the world.

Visitors will learn the whole history of the cathedral: from the laying of the first stone in 1163 to its restoration, from the sumptuous wedding of King Henry IV to Napoleon’s coronation. Augmented reality will immerse you in an immersive journey. It will be possible to examine the unique objects in the rooms, inspect the decorations in 3D and search for treasures. The attention to detail is impressive: glass chalices, organ, gargoyles and its famous central rose window. The skill, art and vision of its architects, craftspeople and builders throughout its centuries of history, as well as those of 21st-century experts, come to life.
