«Child Slaves, the Back Door» Exhibition

PhotoEspaña presents a unique exhibition that everyone should see. It is the proposal of photojournalist Ana Palacios, who has captured the rescue from child slavery, rehabilitation and the moving moment of return to families.

The problem of slavery today is very serious. Thousands of children have been victims of trafficking in sub-Saharan Africa. Ana Palacios tells the story of the lives of more than 50 child slaves who managed to reclaim their interrupted childhoods. The protagonists try to come to terms with and forget a past full of horrific moments. Organisations such as Misiones Salesianas, Carmelitas Vedruna and Mensajeros de la Paz help them do so.

The exhibition invites reflection on children’s rights. The 86 photographs are the result of three years of research in Togo, Benin and Gabon. Visitors are encouraged to reflect on children’s rights through photography, cinema, games, music and traditional African stories.
