«Nature of Asphalt. Hyperrealist Madrid. José Miguel Palacio» exhibition

The Museum of History hosts an exhibition of works by contemporary artist José Miguel Palacio. More than 70 paintings, together with sculptures and drawings, turn Madrid into a huge stage where urban bustle, movement and everyday life merge into a single pictorial rhythm.

The polyptych «Madrid al cielo» stands out in particular, comprising 30 oil canvases showing Serrano, Gran Vía, Princesa and Goya streets, Plaza de Callao, Atocha and Chamartín stations, and the city’s parks and cafés. Meticulous detail and the play of optical effects create the impression that the city comes to life before the viewer’s eyes.
