“María Lejárraga: A Voice in the Shadows” exhibition

The exhibition traces the life of this writer from La Rioja, who wrote under the name of her husband, Gregorio Martínez Sierra. Her manuscripts, photographs and testimonies revealing this author's enormous creative potential will be on display. Among the most important pieces is a document in which Martínez Sierra acknowledges his wife as the author of all their collaborative works.

This woman's figure is important for understanding the inner workings of 20th-century Spanish cultural and political history. In 1918, she co-founded the Unión Femenina Española, a pioneering organisation that fought for equal rights and opportunities for women in our country.
