Illustrious Madrileños. Félix Máximo López

Museo Conde Duque is hosting an exhibition on the Madrid composer and organist Félix Máximo López and his work. The exhibition explores two areas of his professional life in 18th-century Madrid. He was the first organist of the Capilla Real and a composer of tonadillas and theatrical pieces performed in Madrid’s La Cruz and El Príncipe theatres.

This exhibition is a great opportunity to recall and enjoy musical genres such as comedy, the saeneta, zarzuela and others. It highlights the stage tonadilla, a musical genre that began to bear fruit around 1750 and is considered highly valuable for understanding Spanish music of the period.
