History in a display case: the Roman denarius that changed the fate of an empire is available to the public in a new exhibition.

The Museo Arqueológico Nacional hosts the singular temporary exhibition «The Ides of March», in which just one display case houses an object of incalculable value: a rare Roman denarius minted by Brutus after the assassination of Julius Caesar.
The coin, found in Toledo in 1733, is decorated with symbolic daggers and the date «ID MAR», referring to the fateful 15 March of the year 44 BC. The exhibition is completed by other ancient denarii, a ceramic krater and a rare dagger.
The exhibition «The Ides of March» will be open until 13 April, and the museum’s chief curator will lead special guided tours on 15 March. A unique opportunity to see a relic that changed the course of history.
