«Laboratorio de Teatro Campesino e Indígena. Half a Century of History» exhibition

Until 31 August, Fundación Casa de México en España presents an exhibition devoted to the collective theatre project Laboratorio de Teatro Campesino e Indígena (LTCI), directed by Alicia Martínez Medrano. At its centre are the heartfelt photographs of Lourdes Grobet, which capture almost half a century of the history of popular theatre in Mexico.

The exhibition, which forms part of the official PHotoESPAÑA 2025 programme, tells the story of LTCI as a space of cultural resistance where languages, traditions and community voices came to life. Through documentary material, stage-design elements and images from original productions, the spectator is presented with a «bloodless revolution», as critic Luz Emilia Aguilar Zinzer called it, made through art.
