Immersive exhibition “The Odyssey. The Immersive Journey”

From 18 September, MAD (Madrid Artes Digitales) will add The Odyssey. The Immersive Journey to its programme, a production that turns Homer’s poem into an interactive experience in which the visitor accompanies Odysseus on his return to Ithaca.

The route combines five immersive formats in one space: physical sets, 360-degree projections, virtual reality, metaverse and holographic installations. Each recreates some of the best-known episodes of the work, from the Trojan horse and the encounter with Polyphemus to the Sirens, Hades or the strait ruled by Scylla and Charybdis.

One of the proposal’s most striking features is its narrative structure. Instead of a single continuous projection, the story is divided into eight chapters, each devoted to a different trial of the hero. Each episode has its own aesthetics, setting and soundtrack, offering a different experience at every stage of the journey.

The visit is designed for all audiences and does not require prior knowledge of the work. Homer’s narration guides the route while the different technologies make it possible to discover Ancient Greece from within. In addition, it will be MAD’s first production available in full in both Spanish and English, expanding access to international visitors as well.
