The Galería de las Colecciones Reales opens its doors to the exhibition «Royal Toys», which brings together objects from the childhoods of the Spanish monarchy. Board games, dolls, magic lanterns, puzzles and even a miniature aeroplane: each object holds a small story about who played with it and who shared the joy.
Visitors will be able to see what entertained the young princes and infantes, what their rooms were like and which games helped them learn or imagine. Among the exhibits are rare toys created for learning and objects for active leisure: accessories for bicycles and horses, sports equipment, and magazines with the names of the royal children’s horses.
The exhibition reveals not only the palace’s childhood entertainments, but also small details of royal family life: their tastes, habits and love of games, which brought the family together and created moments of joy. A special place is occupied by the tale of the little mouse Pérez, written especially for the young Alfonso XIII, which reminds the future king of the importance of justice and kindness.
