«Isidre Nonell looking at Goya» exhibition

The Lázaro Galdiano Museum presents a new exhibition that brings together in one space two artists separated by a century, yet close in their way of seeing the world: Isidre Nonell and Francisco Goya.

The exhibition is in the Goya and Guest Art rooms and offers viewers the chance to see how the two masters’ views of the tragic, the marginal and the human intersect. Alongside Goya’s canvases, including El Aquelarre and Las brujas, Nonell’s most personal works are presented: seven atmospheric portraits and five uncommon “fried” drawings, with the paper’s characteristic old tone.

For Madrid, this event is especially significant, since Nonell’s works are almost never exhibited in the city and this is the first opportunity in two decades. The works, on loan from the Casacuberta Marsans collection, reveal the artist’s boldest and most intimate period.
