Exhibition ‘History in Motion’
Madrid celebrates nine decades of official transport history with History in Motion, a free exhibition tracing key moments in the Parque Móvil del Estado (PME) through its most representative vehicles.
About this event
With more than 30 historic cars, the tour offers a unique immersion in the evolution of state automobiles and the political context that accompanied them. Notable pieces include the 1923 Packard, similar to the one used by Alfonso XIII; the Packard 120 Sedan, adorned with the silver figure of Nike; and an armoured Mercedes that served several Prime Ministers, including Adolfo Suárez. The popular Seat 600, a symbol of post-war social development, also appears.
But it is not only about cars: the exhibition recreates in detail the workshops and trades that operated in these facilities for decades, highlighting the technical and craft work that sustained this machinery of the State. It is a perfect opportunity for lovers of motoring, history and institutional memory.
