About this event
Madrid is not only the capital, but the heart of Spain, its political, geographical and symbolic centre. It is the protagonist of the new exhibition «Flor de España», where artist David Bestué offers a view of the city from different perspectives.
The exhibition is a collective reflection on Madrid, created through a dialogue between Bestué’s own works and those of other artists from public and private collections. Together, they reveal the capital’s multilayered nature through five chapters, each devoted to a singular aspect of the city.
The themes include the north/south axial structure that shapes the city’s appearance and dynamics, the influence of official Madrid that leaves its mark on public life and art, and occult studies that reveal the mystical aspects of the urban area.
A separate chapter is devoted to the concept of the “unbearable”, what makes life in Madrid both challenging and attractive. The journey ends with the theme of Madrid as a source of inspiration that has inspired artists for centuries to create colourful, bold and experimental works.
