Lorenzo Caprile exhibition

Lorenzo Caprile became a leading national couturier. By rejecting prêt-à-porter fashion, he became the benchmark for Spanish haute couture.

The couturier opened his first atelier in 1993 in the Salamanca neighbourhood. By then, he had already studied tailoring in New York. There he gained experience with the masters who displayed their work on Madison Avenue. After completing his studies at the Instituto Politécnico Internacional de la Moda, he worked for the major Italian brands Ratti and Cadena.

After achieving success, the couturier dressed royalty and red-carpet actresses. He created the dress worn by Infanta Elena at her wedding. It is the famous red evening dress with which Laetitia captivated everyone at the wedding. It can now be seen in person at Sala Canal de Isabel II, alongside other iconic designs.

The exhibition traces the couturier’s evolution from his beginnings to international fame. There are photographs, sources of inspiration, paintings and decorative objects.
