Gabriele Münter is known as one of the founding members of the legendary group of Expressionist painters from Munich. Her precise lines and intense colours immerse the viewer in her world, which is why she is so popular. In her world we have seen all her lovers, friends, everyday objects and landscapes reflected, and finally herself.
In this exhibition, we will be able to get to know this incredible woman through her paintings, drawings, prints and photographs. In them we will find a reflection of how the artist rebelled against the restrictions to which women of her time were subjected. Through effort, the young woman became one of the most outstanding figures of German Expressionism at the beginning of the 20th century.
A retrospective will take us through the artist’s professional career, from her beginnings as an amateur photographer to her exile in Scandinavia during the First World War and the various means of expression she found after returning to Germany. Here we will see the richness of the artist’s work in full.
