About this event
Madrid is hosting an exhibition by one of the great photographers of the new era, the Swedish artist Christer Strömholm. His work is his turbulent biography and his frenetic travels; alongside this, the concept behind his photographs reflects an unwavering empathy in the face of human suffering and the complexity of existence.
He observes the world with a restrained and humorous view of life, which is reflected in the photographer’s work. Christer Strömholm is regarded as a benchmark of contemporary photography for his distinctive subjectivity.
The exhibition covers every aspect of the artist’s work: from his participation in the German Fotoform group in the early 1950s to his iconic portraits of friends, parodies of the Place Blanche de París, his many travels, street photography and portraits of artists.
