Exhibition «Everybody loves to Cha Cha Cha. Bego Antón»
A project will be presented in Madrid in which dance does not arise between people, but between a human and a dog, in a unique choreography synchronised to the rhythm of music.
About this event
From 10 June to 30 September, Casa de América will host a series of works by Bego Antón dedicated to Musical Canine Freestyle, a type of performance in which «human-dog» pairs turn movement into choreography.
In these performances there are no accidental gestures: every turn, jump and change of direction is structured as a scene in which both participants perform in unison. Costume, music and movement merge into a coherent number perceived as a joint performance.
Photographer Bego Antón explores this world through her travels in the United States—from New York to Arizona—capturing not only the performances themselves but also the relationships between the participants behind them. In her images, it is not only forms and movements that matter, but also the connection that makes this synchronisation possible.
