Exhibition «Eva Lootz. Hacer como quien dice: ¿y esto qué es?»
A unique exhibition that looks at art from a new angle: making, allowing oneself to ask questions about the world from scratch.
About this event
Eva Lutz presents a new way of seeing art. It is a chronological journey through the artist’s entire creative life. The exhibition includes a selection of works, some of which have never been exhibited before and others of which have been reconstructed for the occasion.
Lutz created her works in the 1970s, a period the artist has described as «elementary papism». During this period, a process of development of anti-formalist art took place in the United States and Europe. The idea is that the process of creation is much more important than the final result. The works focus on the literalness of the materials.
In her works, the artist questions contemporary visuality, excessive fascination with images and the influences of digital culture. We try to see what is hidden in the blind corners of our vision. Lutz calls this «looking out of the corner of one’s eye». This allows her to focus on fluid materials or on threads and their knots, and encourages us to think without fixed entities.
