«The Multiplied Prado. Photography as shared memory» exhibition

Museo del Prado opens a historical photography exhibition that will remain open to the public from 2 February to 5 April and will show works by Spanish and foreign authors, including Laurent, Moreno, Anderson and Hanfstaengl.

The exhibition, curated by Beatriz Sánchez Torija, shows photography's precision and expressiveness as a medium for documenting art. Visitors will be able to see one of the museum's first photographs, taken in 1899, and will then tour the rooms of the Villanueva building, where reproductions of works now in the Prado collection are displayed.

Special attention is paid to the contribution of Juan Laurent and José Lacoste, who helped expand the museum's visual image and popularise its collections among the general public. The exhibition highlights how photography combines artistic value and documentary precision, offering a visual journey accessible to everyone.
