An exhibition has opened in Madrid revealing the multifaceted work and historical role of Jorge Semprún, writer, screenwriter and fighter for freedom.

The Sala Hipóstila of the Biblioteca Nacional hosts, until 31 August, an exhibition devoted to Jorge Semprún, one of the most outstanding European thinkers of the 20th century.
Curator Tania Baglio Colel presents Semprún’s life and work through five thematic sections covering key moments: the Civil War, exile, the Resistance, clandestine activity and memory.
Semprún was a writer, screenwriter, Minister of Culture and fighter for freedom. The exhibition brings together authentic documents, manuscripts and film excerpts to create an in-depth portrait of the man and his legacy.
