From 6 May to 28 June, CentroCentro hosts José Quintanilla’s exhibition, a proposal that questions photography as a faithful reflection of reality in order to understand it as a language capable of constructing new ways of seeing. The exhibition forms part of the PHotoESPAÑA 2026 programme and EPICENTRO, an initiative devoted to contemporary artistic formats.
The project arises from a reflection on the current state of the photographic image. In a context marked by visual abundance, digital editing and the constant circulation of images, the idea of photography as proof of the real becomes increasingly uncertain.
In response, Quintanilla directs attention towards the experience of perception. His works approach the territory of painting, where light and colour take centre stage and recognisable forms no longer offer immediate certainties.
Landscape, memory and traces of human presence on nature run through an artistic practice that invites us to question how we see, interpret and construct our relationship with the world around us.
