‘Hell and Wonders’ exhibition

A new museum has opened its doors in the basement of the National Library of Spain with the exhibition ‘Hell and Wonders’. It will reveal the visible and the hidden to you. It will also be a story of the relationship between censorship and publication. Even Gustavo Faveron, in his novel ‘Vivir Abajo’, said that the underground is the place where the invisible happens and conspiracy theories are created. The exhibition refers to the places where libraries hid books, from bedrooms to cupboards. But thanks to faith, these works have been preserved.

Institutions used to hide their books in this basement. Today, the library’s treasures are displayed here. This exhibition is not so much about the history of books as it is about the history of knowledge and various burials. For example, cave paintings and the standardisation of cloud data archiving.
