International Women's Day celebration at the Biblioteca Nacional de España
The month of March at the Biblioteca Nacional de España will be dedicated to women's voices and stories. Talks, concerts, guided tours and even the circulation of a commemorative coin: all to remember those who paved the way in culture with their talent and courage.
About this event
The Biblioteca Nacional de España (BNE) celebrates March with women's names and stories. Talks, concerts, guided tours and special events will focus on the role of women in culture.
On 5 and 6 March, the Library will host meetings with women artists, writers and composers, and harpist Sara Águeda will perform period romances.
On 18 March, the BNE will unveil a commemorative coin in honour of philologist María Moliner, and her biographer, Inmaculada de la Fuente, will speak about the life of the author of the Diccionario de uso del español.
In addition, the BNE will organise «Women in the Library» guided tours, a concert by Sara Mansilla and the presentation of a book on the fate of women in the USSR.
The whole of March is celebrated in honour of those who created culture and changed history.
