Exhibition “The Burnt Banquet”
At Infinito Delicias they have prepared a table with desserts that look as if they were taken from the ashes, and that is precisely what Rosalía Banet’s whole installation is based on.

Until 25 May, the Infinito Delicias space is showing the installation “Burnt Banquet” by artist Rosalía Banet: a long table with desserts that appear to have survived a fire.
Cakes, chocolates, pastries and other sweets lack their usual colours here: everything has been transformed into shades of charcoal, ash and soot. Even so, the display retains a strange appeal, as if the festive table had frozen at a moment between luxury and destruction.
The work refers at once to Roman banquets, consumer culture and the feeling of exhaustion in the face of excess. The sweets, which usually end a meal, become in this installation a symbol of the end: not only of dinner, but of an entire system built on exaggeration.

The project emerged after Rosalía Banet’s residency in Rome, where the artist researched images of food, the body and abundance in the city’s history, from ancient banquets to butcher-shop display cases and medical archives. Today, this work has been adapted especially for the Infinito Delicias space and is presented as an almost theatrical setting.
