Círculo de Bellas Artes invites visitors to Sala Picasso to discover the period of profound renewal of the centre and its transformation into a multidisciplinary cultural space.
The exhibition immerses the viewer in the atmosphere of 1983, when a large-scale transformation began that opened the door to experimentation and dialogue between art, philosophy, music, cinema and architecture. During those years, the centre welcomed leading international artists, thinkers and researchers, and new festivals and initiatives emerged that introduced innovative artistic practices to Spain.
Curator Oliva María Rubio proposes a journey through works and photographic and video archives, showing how in just a few years Círculo de Bellas Artes became a vibrant cultural space, reflecting the creative awakening of democratic Spain.
