Exhibition ‘After All. Photography in the Helga de Alvear Collection’
What remains after all? The exhibition answers this question: a visual reflection on memory, time and space, told through photographs that turn architecture into the chronicle of a century.

Until 27 July, Espacio Cultural Serrería Belga hosts, as part of PHotoESPAÑA 2025, an exhibition based on photographs from the prestigious Helga de Alvear collection. It spans a century of transformation in the European landscape, from Atge to the Düsseldorf School.
Curators Sandra Guimarães and María Jesús Ávila place emphasis on the urban environment: buildings, interiors and industrial sites. This visual journey from ‘new objectivity’ to digital manipulation reveals how photography balances between document and fiction. The artists’ works illustrate key milestones of the twentieth century: post-war reconstruction, industrial decline and the fall of the Berlin Wall.
The exhibition’s title, ‘After All’, refers to the festival’s motto and highlights photography as a tool for understanding the era of change.
