Exhibition «Desenfocado»
From 17 September 2025 to 12 April 2026, CaixaForum Madrid opens the doors to «Desenfocado», an exhibition exploring the creative power of the imprecise. Inspired by Monet’s celebrated series of water lilies, the exhibition traces the evolution of blur as an aesthetic resource from Impressionism to contemporary art.
About this event
The proposal brings together works by figures such as Monet, Giacometti, Rothko, Richter, Bill Viola and Soledad Sevilla, among others, and combines media as diverse as painting, photography, video and installation. Visitors will find how blur, far from being an accident, became a language in its own right capable of transforming perception and opening multiple readings of a single image.
With this exhibition, CaixaForum invites us to look differently: to accept lack of sharpness as part of the visual and emotional experience of art. A commitment that connects tradition and avant-garde, showing that the undefined can be as expressive as the sharp.
Admission will be free for CaixaBank customers and for under-16s. There will also be special days with free entry by prior reservation on 20 and 21 September, within the Festival de las Ideas, and on 26 September, during La Noche de la Investigación.
